Supporting Recovery, Nourishment, and Balance After Birth
The postpartum period is a precious and delicate time of transition. It’s essential to support the body and spirit as they recover from the profound experience of childbirth.
In TCM, this time is often called the “Golden Month”—a vital window to nourish, rest, and rebuild strength for long-term health and vitality.
Herbal Support – from 1 Week After Delivery
Herbs can gently support the recovery of energy (Qi) and blood, help with uterine healing, improve digestion, and balance emotional well-being.
Herbal care can begin one week after delivery, once the initial postpartum phase has stabilized.
Our clinic offers personalized postnatal herbal formulas, carefully crafted to match your constitution and support your unique recovery process.
These may include herbs for energy restoration, mood balance, milk production, and digestive support.
Moxa on Spleen 6 – from 1 Week After Delivery
Moxibustion (moxa) is a warming therapy using the herb mugwort to stimulate key acupuncture points.
Applying moxa to Spleen 6 (SP6)—a deeply nourishing point on the lower leg—can help restore energy, warm the womb, support blood flow, and ease tension.
You may begin this gentle practice one week after delivery, in a quiet setting at home or with guidance in the clinic.
Location of Spleen 6 (SP6):
Below is an image to help you locate SP6 on your body. It lies about three finger-widths above the inner ankle bone, on the inside of the lower leg, just behind the shin bone.

Acupuncture – from 1 Month After Delivery
Regular acupuncture sessions may begin one month after delivery, once your body has had time to rest and regain strength. Treatments are individually tailored and gently support:
- Hormonal balance and menstrual recovery
- Emotional regulation and grounding
- Support for postnatal depression and mood fluctuations
- Recovery from fatigue and low energy
- Pain relief (e.g. lower back, neck, shoulders)
- Improved sleep and digestion
Acupuncture offers a space to reconnect with your body, release tension, and receive emotional and physical support in this sacred time of renewal.
