Somatic Therapy at Medicine Body Studio: Our approach

At Medicine Body Studio, we support clients navigating mind–body challenges such as anxiety, burnout, depression, chronic tension, and trauma. Many of the people we work with have already spent years in talk therapy, gaining valuable insight—yet still feel a lingering sense of discomfort in their bodies.

This reveals an essential truth: our experiences are not only understood through thinking, but also held within the body and nervous system.

Much of our lives are shaped by “doing”—analyzing, fixing, coping, and trying to move forward through effort and understanding. While this can bring clarity, it often leaves a deeper layer untouched.

Somatic therapy invites a different kind of journey: a shift from doing to being. From striving to sensing. From explaining to experiencing.

Rather than working solely through the mind, we begin to listen to the body—creating space for awareness, regulation, and integration to emerge naturally.

That’s where somatic therapy begins.

A Three-Level Approach to Deep Healing

At our studio, we offer a unique three-level approach to somatic healing, integrating energy-based therapies to restore balance across body, mind, and spirit.

1. Soma Shiatsu — Body Center, Touch, Release

Your journey begins with Soma Shiatsu, a deeply grounding, hands-on experience rooted in meridian-based therapeutic touch. This first stage is designed to awaken body awareness and gently release accumulated tension.

Through intentional touch, you are invited to slow down, feel, and reconnect with your body. As the nervous system begins to settle, held emotions and energetic blockages can start to unwind naturally—creating a safe and stable foundation for deeper healing work.

2. Soma Acupuncture — Sensory Energy Awareness

Once the body is more open and receptive, we move into Soma Acupuncture, where the focus shifts to refining your awareness of internal sensations and energy flow.

This phase supports the regulation of Qi (vital energy) and helps rebalance the nervous system. You’ll learn to notice subtle shifts within your body, developing a deeper sensitivity and connection to your inner landscape and self-regulation.

3. Somatic Movement — Creative Expression & Embodiment

As balance is restored, the process expands into Somatic Movement, where healing evolves into expression.

Through guided movement exploration and creative practices, you are invited to experience both moving and being moved. These embodied experiences naturally extend into spontaneous drawing and writing, allowing emotions and sensations to transform into authentic creative expression. This stage fosters deeper embodiment, integration, and meaningful self-discovery.

The Role of Energy in Healing

From the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), emotional stress and trauma can disrupt the flow of Qi—the body’s vital energy—affecting balance across the system. Over time, this may show up as both physical and emotional symptoms.

Rather than problems to fix, these signals point to a deeper need for grounding, connection, and integration.

Why Somatic Therapy Works

Somatic therapy is based on the connection between mind, body, and energy. By turning attention toward bodily sensation, it shifts the focus from doing—analyzing and trying to change—to being: noticing, allowing, and experiencing.

In this state, the body can release stored tension and restore its natural capacity to regulate.

A journey Back to Yourself

At Medicine Body Studio, we integrate somatic therapy with energy medicine to support this shift from doing to being.

As you reconnect with your body and rebalance your energy, healing is no longer something to force—it begins to unfold on its own, leading to greater stability, resilience, and a deeper sense of self.
