Client’s Drawing and Insight: Integrating TCM Wisdom and Somatic Healing

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), “Shen” and “Zhi” are essential concepts representing different aspects of our being.

“Shen,” often associated with the heart, signifies the spirit and mental clarity, illuminating our vision and perception like a guiding light.

It embodies our consciousness and emotional well-being, reflecting the transformative element of Fire.

“Zhi,” on the other hand, is associated with the kidneys and represents wisdom, willpower, and the deep, reflective nature of our inner world.

It embodies the fluid and adaptive qualities of Water, symbolizing our essence and the profound depths of our subconscious.

Balancing Water and Fire is our essential inner work process.

In my practice, I integrate these TCM principles with a somatic approach, focusing on healing and creation as the central focus.

I have observed that the client’s drawings and insights often hold symbolic meanings that resonate with my own journey as well as reveal universal insights.

These symbols and synchronicities reflect a deeper connection and mirroring relationship between the client and practitioner.

This mirroring allows us to see aspects of ourselves in each other, enhancing our mutual growth and healing.

The client’s drawing becomes a bridge between the inner self and outer expression, weaving the space between the observer (practitioner) and experiencer (client), facilitating a deep, transformative healing process for both of us.

Framing our perception

Perceiving with clarity brings light to our vision.

This is the spirit of the heart, “Shen”

Fire transforming into defined light.

Drawing captures our feelings and intuition

The inner landscape cannot be spoken in words

Dwelling in deep water is the wisdom of the kidneys, “Zhi,”

Yielding to the fluid landscape within

Water, the essence of who we are.
